Kate Noakes is a British designer and maker whose work combines finely tuned craftsmanship with a bold design instinct.
From her workshop in Suffolk, Kate creates beautifully made one-off pieces, usually to commission, by veneering existing furniture that she has reconditioned and often remodelled. She uses a process she has developed of inlaying designs cut from sheet metal with gesso to striking effect. Her furniture is durable, functional and dynamic and sits comfortably in both contemporary and traditional settings.
Since successfully launching her first collection of furniture at The London Design Fair 2012, Kate has worked extensively with both interior designers and private clients in Europe and America -sourcing the original furniture to suit the client’s criteria and then transforming it into unique statement pieces.
Kate is a Fine Art graduate and she worked as a sculptor and lecturer before moving into design in 2012. Much of the inspiration for her designs comes from her love of Victorian industrial design and architecture and 18th and 19th century art and interiors.
Kate’s furniture has been featured in many UK and European interiors magazines including Elle Decoration and Homes and Gardens.
