Kate Noakes is a British designer and maker whose work combines finely tuned craftsmanship with aesthetic vison. She is a Fine Art graduate and worked as a sculptor and lecturer before moving into design in 2012.
From her workshop in Suffolk Kate produces beautifully made one-off pieces, usually to commission, by veneering existing furniture that she has reconditioned and often renovated, using a process she developed inlaying sheet metal with gesso. The resultant furniture is durable, functional and dynamic. This process can be applied to any wood surface and has been used successfully on screens and wall hangings as well as furniture.
Since successfully launching her first collection of furniture ‘Made Modern Again’ at The London Design Fair 2012, Kate’s work has been much sought after and she has worked extensively with both private buyers and interior designers. Her furniture is frequently featured in UK and European interiors magazines including Elle Decoration and Homes and Gardens.
